What is WeROCK?
WeROCK stands for We Reach Out to Chicago's Kids. It's a partnership between JPA and companies throughout Chicago who want to meet and spend some quality time doing a fun, educational project with some bright, energetic kids. Begun by our Auxiliary Board, WeROCK has become one of our most enjoyable ways of connecting to children in neighborhoods and schools often forgotten.
Every few weeks, volunteers from companies like Groupon, Guggenheim, and Perkins + Will meet with JPA staff and Board members at a JPA school to work with 3rd and 4th graders on projects like designing a park, learning about the Chicago flag and making your own, and creating your own company. Children work together with adult guidance and create some surprisingly inventive results. It's a high-energy, high-reward way to spend time with terrific children.
If your company or organization would like to be part of WeROCK, please email Dana Snodgrass or call 312-698-6938.
Be a WeROCK Empowerment Partner! Companies that support JPA's program financially help fund in-school therapy for children affected by trauma and workshops introducing teachers to trauma's effects and how to help students deal with them. They learn how they can help their students, as well as themselves, create positive classroom experiences. For details, please complete the form below.
