Hi, I'm Meredith Gettleman

Meredith Gettleman, LSW

Therapist

I'm a Licensed Social Worker with over ten years' experience working with children and families in a variety of contexts and roles. Prior to graduate school, I worked in Jewish Child and Family Services Group Homes, supporting adolescents in DCFS care who had experienced extensive trauma. During graduate school, I interned at the Office of the Public Guardian, conducting home visits with children and adolescents in foster care and as a Gads Hill Center School-Based Clinician in various Chicago Public Schools on the west side of Chicago.

Currently, I'm a staff therapist at JPA in our Building Bridges to North Lawndale program. I provide school-based individual and group therapy to elementary and middle-school children and their families, as well as conduct classroom workshops on various social-emotional topics. I'm skilled in a variety of therapeutic techniques including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, play, and relationship-based therapy. I consistently use a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach with my clients. I am passionate about providing empathetic, client-centered, culturally-sensitive services and I strive to help individuals of all backgrounds thrive at home, school and in their community.

I earned my BA in psychology at Lawrence University and my MSW at the Erikson Institute. I specialize in trauma, child development, anxiety, depression, children and adolescents, and family concerns.  I'm a member of the National Association of Social Workers  (NASW)
